Frequently Asked Questions
Let's help get you up and walking quickly!
Is walking football suitable if I’ve never played before?
+
Yes — beginners are very welcome. We keep first sessions relaxed, explain things clearly, and make sure new players can join at their own pace.
How fast are the sessions?
+
Sessions are steady and supportive, not high-pressure. The focus is movement, enjoyment, and teamwork, with regular breaks and plenty of encouragement.
What should I wear and bring?
+
Wear comfortable sports clothing and trainers suitable for a sports hall or 3G surface. Bring water and any personal medication you may need.
What are the rules of play?
+
- Walk, don’t run or jog—with or without the ball.
- Keep the ball below head height.
- No pushing, charging or tackling from behind.
- No offsides
Don't worry too much, it will soon become second nature
Who can join the club sessions?
+
Adults of different fitness levels are welcome to join, with most of our players aged 50+. If you’re looking for a friendly, lower-impact way to stay active, this is a great place to start.
Will I feel welcome if I come on my own?
+
Absolutely. Many members joined on their own first. We introduce new players, keep things friendly, and make sure everyone feels included from day one.
How much does it cost to join?
+
Membership costs £13.50 per month and includes access to all indoor and outdoor sessions. If you’re interested, it also gives you the opportunity to play in the league team.
How do I play in the league?
+
If you fancy playing at a more competitive level, we play in the Devon FA Walking Football League roughly every 6 weeks. Just mention your interest at a regular session or via the WhatsApp group chat and we can go from there.
